Regretfully, I have to announce that Merbet passed away this month (March 2006). He lived for approximately 6 years until sexual maturity, a normal lifespan for a male Mexican Red Knee Tarantula. I will add more information to this page as I find time. For now, however, enjoy this beautiful gallery created in his honor. There are numerous pictures of his fangs--possibly some of the best tarantula fang pictures I've ever seen--in addition to pictures of his enormous legspan, male emboli, and abdomen. While some of these pictures may be disturbing, please appreciate the incredible size (and beauty!) of the tarantula.
